7 Wonders of the World
Out of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World only the pyramids can be visited, the rest is long gone. In 2007 7 New Wonders of the World were elected and the winners are:
- Colosseum, Italy
- Great Wall, China
- Petra, Jordan
- Chichen Itza, Mexico
- Crist the Redeemer, Braziliƫ
- Machu Picchu, Peru
- Taj Mahal, India
These are all must see tourist hot spots and impressive when seeing them the first time. You can of course arrive at the site in an air conditioned tour bus to be told you have 1.5 hours to follow the tour guide holding up the little flag to make sure none of his flock gets lost. Well, that's not exactly what we want. We want you to see the trip to the wonder as a goal in itself. So you park your battered vehicle in the parking lot, kick the dust from your shoes, make a futile attempt to shape your hairdo, look around and say: 'So what's this then?'. The stickers on the vehicle clearly show what you've been through and you take in the puzzled looks of the bystanders, some even in envy.
Reaching a Wonder of the World means so much more if the trip to get there was though, eventful and even at times a struggle where all your ingenuity was needed to achieve your goal. You shook hands with the descendants of the builders, heard the echo's of long lost cultures, enjoyed the food as do the locals and slept under a starry sky.
You earned your ticket.
